Whenever I need care for my dog, I go straight to Friendship Animal Hospital at Brandywine and Wisconsin Avenues, NW. I have been going there for all my pets since the 1960s because they are excellent vets, always knowledgeable. Besides the exceptional vets, Friendship Animal Hospital also has an incredible facility that enables them to provide first rate care – Cardiology, internal medicine, oncology and surgery! They even can do acupuncture now! It also offers a 24 hour emergency clinic that is probably the best in the city.

I need to be clear right up front – I love my standard poodle, Poirot. He is named for the Agatha Christy Belgian detective with the very distinctive waxed mustache, mincing walk, and brilliant mind. While my dog doesn’t have a waxed mustache or a mincing walk, he does have a brilliant mind and he is a joy to the whole family!
Poirot’s doctor is Lynn Logan, a Fort Worth, TX native, who attended Texas A&M University for undergraduate and verterinary school. After she graduated from berterinary school in 1986, she did an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Cornell University. She has been at Friendship Hospital since 1987 and she clearly loves her patients! Even though there are hundreds of animal clients at Friendship, I always feel that she really knows Poirot and cares about his well being.
I have gone through the end of life experience at Friendship with both my Siamese cats and I can’t stress enough how caring the staff was and helpful in enabling me to make the right decision when the time came. Poirot was diagnosed several years ago with Addison’s disease, which is apparently not uncommon among poodles, but the first veterinarian at another clinic completely missed it, thinking that he was suffering from lyme’s disease instead. When I took him to Friendship, the vet on call knew immediately what the diagnosis was – even before the blood work came back. I won’t take Poirot anywhere else now!
