Sugar Loaf Mountain Vineyard

Sugar Loaf Mountain Vineyard in Dickerson, Maryland is so kid friendly that it has a designated Play Area just for little ones with an expansive space for running, jumping and games of tag. You can buy snacks here like cheese and crackers, olives, hummus to go with your wine or you can bring your own set of sweets and savories to munch on while you spend a whole day in the sunshine tasting a variety of locally grown wines.  You can even bring your dog (on a leash) with you, although Rover can’t go into the tasting room.

Sugar Loaf Mountain Vineyard offers live music in the warmer weather, which makes a perfect afternoon.  The concerts start on April 28, 2018 and run through October on Saturdays and Sundays from 2 to 5 each day.  On April 28th, Ray Eaton kicks off the musical series, followed by Jason Frye on the 29th.  Check out the vineyard’s event calendar for their musicians’ schedule.

The wines being sold currently include the vineyard’s Pinot Griogio 2016, Viognier 2015, Chardonnay 2016, Siren 2016, Rose 2016, Cabernet Franc 2016, and EVOE! 2013.  The winery will be bottling their Comus 2016 beginning in May and will have it ready for tasting later in the year.

Rocklands Farm Winery and Market

Rocklands Farm Winery and Market runs an active farm, selling eggs, poultry, bacon and other pork products, fruit, and veggies.  It also offers some of the tastiest wines in the area. Swing by Thursday-Sunday for a tasting and take a family-friendly self-guided tour.  There’s lots of room for your children to run around and burn off energy as they inspect the farm’s chickens and pigs!  and the beautiful scenery makes for great photos to remember the day!

Rocklands Farm Winery and Market is all about education.  As part of that, they offer a Wine Camp for adults, an interactive exploration of the world of wine. Featuring a unique guest presenter, each Wine Camp is a themed presentation, discussion, and tasting of an interesting and engaging wine topic. According to the winery, “the goal is to expand knowledge and appreciation for wine movements throughout the world and understand how they compare with, and effect, viticulture and enology here in the Mid-Atlantic.”  You can leave your sleeping bag at home – Events last about 90 minutes.

The Rocklands Farm Winery and Market also offers summer camps, including an art camp and a session just for girls, entitled Little House on the Prarie!
