Maryland has a number of great school districts.  The schools alone are a good reason to relocate to Maryland! Montgomery County was recently recognized by Niche.com as the second best school district in Maryland, behind Howard County.  Montgomery County schools received A+ grades for its teachers, academics, educational outcomes, and student culture and diversity. Extracurriculars and health and safety received a B+ while sports and fitness and food received the lowest grades of all – a B-.

In the 2015-2016 school year, Montgomery County Public Schools have 151,295 students attending 207 schools in grades PK and K-12. According to state standards, 86% of students in this district are considered proficient in math and/or reading. The district has an annual budget of $2,646,912,000, spending an average of $18,073 per student.

Niche.com recently published its 2016 Best School Districts ranking which provides a comprehensive assessment of 10,563 school districts around the country.  The ranking considers important factors like the strength of academics, the quality of the teachers, school resources, the quality of student life, and parent and student reviews.
