Good news! As soon as Thanksgiving is over, Bethesda is getting ready for the holiday season. Winter Wonderland takes place on Saturday December 5 from 1 to 4 pm this year. The annual celebration features holiday performances, a live ice-sculpting presentation and a visit from Santa Claus in Veterans Park, located at the corner of Norfolk and Woodmont Avenues, just north of Old Georgetown Road.  When you are through celebrating, you can warm up at the Starbuck’s across the street or grab a late lunch at the Tastee Diner!

The ice sculpting presentation starts off the celebration from 1- 2pm. The ice sculptor will use chainsaws, ice picks and other tools to transform the blocks of ice into sculptures that are guaranteed to amaze the audience.

The ice sculpting presentation will be followed by choral performances from local school groups. Academy of the Holy Cross, Connelly School of the Holy Child, Garrett Park Elementary, Oneness-Family School, Our Lady of Lourdes and Westbrook Elementary School will perform holiday music.

What holiday celebration doesn’t include a visit from Santa Claus?  Have no fear! Santa will visit the park, bringing holiday treats and crafts to all the children in attendance.

Bethesda’s Winter Wonderland is a free event organized by the Bethesda Urban Partnership which brings many wonderful events to Bethesda each month. If you are relocating to the DC metro area, you may want to consider Bethesda, MD. Home to the Walter Reed Medical Center and many large corporations, Bethesda still has a small town feel that makes it easy to settle in to a new community. The schools are among the best in the country and we have great restaurants, a fantastic metro system, and lots of outdoor recreational opportunities from the C and O Canal for hiking and cayaking to the Capital Crescent Trail that will take you all the way to Georgetown.  There’s a lot going on in Bethesda!
