There is a new restaurant opening next week close to Bethesda Row at 4922 Elm Street.  100 Montaditos is replacing Green Papaya – Spanish sandwiches replacing Thai/Vietnamese fusion.  The restaurant will serve montaditos,  crunchy Spanish rolls baked to order and filled with ingredients such as Serrano ham, tortilla, chorizo sausage and Iberian cheese. As the name suggests, there are 100 varieties of fillings available and the bread is partially baked in Spain before being frozen and delivered to more than 250 locations around the world. The restaurant is the first one opened in the mid-Atlantic area by the chain, founded in 2000 in Andalusia, Spain 100 Montaditos has more than 250 restaurants in Europe, Mexico, Canada, Colombia and the U.S. Its American restaurants are so far all in Florida.

After a filling lunch at 100 Montaditos accompanied by a chilled glass of Sangria or some Brava potatoes, and finished off with dessert sweet sandwich filled with dolce de leche and chocoate spread and a great cup of coffee, you will be grateful for the chance to walk  home!
